The heart’s best governor…
November 30th, 2007
There is no better governor for the heart than vision. Vision constrains us, directs us, disciplines us, and motivates us like few other catalysts can or do. For once vision is caught, faith follows, and then self-discipline will grow in time, as the vision begins to connect heart and mind. No external government or accountability can match the internal fire that moves the heart of one who has a vision.

Unfortunately, we’re definitely lacking vision lately….I wish there was some way to press a button and have it imparted to us….

I’ve been in Ps 72:15 today getting vision for my life again! This verse baffles my mind every time I read it or read an interpretation of it. Interpretation just doesn’t make this verse comfortable. I love it! I’m going to keep praying apostolic prayers until Jesus tells me to stop.

Off topic—but I actually came on here today to ask you what you thought about Arkansas’s Govenor Mike Huckabee who is running for president. I have this video of a speech/sermon he recently gave to some pastors:

if you have not seen it it’s worth a watch…the holocaust reference at the end was pretty deep. I haven’t seen a candidate this solid (as a man of God) in my entire life—from what I see so far…

p.s. the vid can be boring at times, at the very least fast forward to 30 mins in where he calls for the pastors to prepare for martyrdom and says the church needs to be “prophetic”

That was really good; got me thinking about my vision and goals.
(It also got me thinking that this is probably the shortest post you’ve ever written. :-D)

It’s up there, for sure D.

Rob - I have a whole post working on the subject of the man from Hope, Arkansas whom no one took seriously within his own party yet emerged surprisingly from the primary season to run for President…sound familiar?
Anyways, as usual I have lots of thoughts on the subject.
Lou Engle is really excited about him…and so am I.

As private citizens, of course, not as representatives of a non-political religious organization.

Dave you left out one similarity. Huckabee play’s a musical instrument. A Rock and Roll instrument. Rock and Roll is cool. And young people like Rock and Roll. And young people are cool. It’s a James Dean thing. Or Elvis Presley in this case. So if you’re from Arkansas and your not taken seriously within your own party yet you surprisingly emerge from the primary season to run for president… and… you play the saxaphone or the bass guitar… then I’m curious.
All things possible through Christ, right? Think we can get Mike a spot on the Arsenio Hall show?

Good post…. to quote a Bickle-ism, “Lovers always outwork workers.”
Oh, and Huckabee is a good speaker… just finished watching the CNN/Youtube debate, and I’m leaning towards Huckabee or Thompson. Not sure just which yet. Maybe the one that wins the nomination will take the other for a runningmate… interesting idea…

David,
Long time no hear. You’re not dead are you? If you are, just let me know, I might want to send flowers.
Blessings, Scott

True - it’s been too long! Hopefully the article I posted about 30 seconds ago clears up some of the mystery as to why I’ve been silent lately.
I always like flowers, though!
There are a few subjects I need to hit soon, though - and when i have some moments free I’m going to yet again bite off more than I can chew…
