Remains of Jesus found in Jerusalem…
February 24th, 2007
Here is some news that should bring you great relief: James Cameron (director of Titanic) has found the remains of Jesus and His family! The family members include Jesus Himself, of course, along with Mary, Mary Magdalene, Joseph, and Jesus’ son, Judah. There will be a press conference on Monday in which Jim completely shatters all of Paul the Apostle’s careful arguments laid out in 1 Cor. 15 regarding the necessity of the resurrection and its centrality to the Christian faith (and eternal hope). So, thanks to Jim’s tireless labor to prove his assertions through flawless DNA testing, we, above all men, are now most pitiable.
I’m being tongue-in-cheek, of course. Here’s the link to the Time magazine wordcast on this. I think I would resurrect the word “blog” to characterize the reporting being done in this case, but that’s neither here nor there. This is like finding the ancient remains of someone with a tombstone that reads “Bill” and assuming it’s your distant relative, Bill Smith. Since, you know, “Bill” matches and all. No one else in that time could have possibly had such obscure names like “Joseph”, “Mary”, and “Joshua”. It’s like, one in a million! I’m left wondering what other stunning puzzles related to life Jim Cameron will solve for me next. I’m hoping “meaning of life” is the next one he trashes, leaving me no option but to convert to nihilism.
I’m going to let out an exhausted sigh, go to a meeting, and then hopefully talk about “pure in heart” tonight sometime.
David

Hahaha….leave it to Drudge to post that at the top of his page. It was the first article I saw when I arrived back home and logged on. If I were Jesus, I don’t think I could resist appearing to James Cameron in his bedroom at night just for the fun of it.
No worries, this kind of nonsense will pass away.

I didn’t even check Drudge today, but I would guess that would be front and center there.
This stuff is crazy.

actually, just to give sliker a little ego boost, sliker had his post up before drudge.
so the slike is in the know.

Wow.
Let’s just add that to my growing list of reasons for why I can’t wait until Jesus comes back.

James Cameron could take a few cues from his own movie Titanic: even the most seemingly “unsinkable” of human boasts will find itself pulverized by the massive weight of the Rock.

I letting out a huge sigh at your cleverness in making fun of Titanic man….Titanic is no longer my favorite movie because of this guy…and I am saying this before watching the wordcast, so we’ll see.

Cathy - that is funny. Anything to alleviate my depression over this topic is much appreciated. Also much appreciated is Adam Hanly making sure that I, not Drudge, get all the credit for being on top of the news. Who would have thunk it?
Jared - He’s the king of the world. And by that I mean that Cameron is going out of his way to make sure that Dicaprio keeps that title rather than the competition, Jesus Son of David. The guy is dedicated to his craft.

i forgot where i read it…
but i just read a line from a quote from a man in spain, where he said “i can show you a gravesite where there are about 700 Jesus, Son of Mary tombs”

[…] I’m sure anyone reading this has already heard of the documentary about a certain crypt discovered in Jerusalem that supposedly undoes the very foundatios of Christian faith. If you miraculously haven’t heard of this, rather than being repetitive of thousands of other sites on the internet, I’ll just refer you to David Sliker’s wordcast to find out more. Short story is that a couple of guys think they have found Jesus’ dead body. Biblically, of course, this is impossible, but even looking at the simple scientific facts, it is extraordinarily unlikely. Even so, there are raging debates over it all over the internet. […]

Thought you might be interested in this article, it kinda lists a lot of reasons why this documentary is a piece.

Thanks Rex - the article’s link to Ben Witherington’s posts on the subject are also worth the time for anyone who wants to read, well, lots an lots of rantings from Ben; he’s one of the leading NT historians of our generation and thus has…well, lots to say on this subject. He’s not happy.
I really like Ben Witherington.

What I love is that this is just a “secular” site and yet they seem to take such glee in debunking this thing and even, dare I say, defending Christianity.

Great point - seeing it from that perspective, yes, I’m in - I also enjoy that they enjoyed taking Cameron down a peg from his self-importance chart.
