I appreciated a few things about this exercise - that blogging itself has been quite the topic of conversation lately, both externetally and internetally; that a few of us truly despise the word “blog”, as it sounds like something you bury outside of the camp according to Levitical law; and that the IHOP blog world is becoming quite an interesting place.

Islamic Organizations are upset about the current season of 24 (are you surprised?):

I’m going to do a couple of posts today, because this afternoon I want to continue the conversation on radical Islam that begun in response to my atheism post earlier this week.
Before I get to that, however, I thought it would be helpful to post this for my beloved friends in Fort Mill who represent the various organizations that are building the prayer movement in that part of the country. They are both dear to my heart and they blog, regularly. As such, they may or may not be aware that those blogs are being scrutinized, and so I wanted to call that to all of our attention. This is, after all, a world wide web, and as such we can’t be thrown off by an empty comments section. Most who read these will not take the time to comment, but because we are all representing a global prayer movement that will only increase in profile in the days to come via television and other media, we will increasingly find ourselves scrutinized closely - maybe a bit to close for comfort.

One of the interesting trends that bears watching is the rise of what is known as the “new atheism”. Randy Bohlender wrote an interesting blurb on this trend a while ago in connection to a Wired magazine article on the same subject. He followed up with the horrifying trend of young adults blaspheming the Holy Spirit defiantly, in response to a challenge from an agressive atheist organization. This trend bears paying close attention to, and should not be dismissed.

Here’s the link to part three of the New York Times series I referenced yesterday - today’s was my favorite of the three.
Last night’s episode of 24…I can’t even talk about it. You won’t even have to worry about spoilers, for those of you in the “WFD” (Wait For DVD) camp. I really am out of sorts.
I’ll talk about anything involving our friend Jack in the comment section of this post, so that any WFDers can know upfront to avoid the chatter. I’ll do this every Tuesday morning - I’ll put up the flag, and then if you want to read the comments, that’s your perogative.

The New York Times is running a 3-day, 15,000 word series of articles on the rise of Pentacostalism in NYC. I saw the interview on Charlie Rose last week in which the writer said that his series would run at 15,000 words, for those of you who were wondering how I know such random things like “word counts”. The writer, a catholic, seemed genuinely fascinated and endeared to the subjects of his series, which he worked for about two years on.

I recently posted this comment towards the end of our current (and ongoing) discussion about seeker-sensitive models and IHOP-KC’s slight suspicion of them - or anything resembling them. It is great that we are able to hit this issue, which at the end of the day is about excellence in stewardship in regards to our entrustment from the Lord. We are growing in the area of excellence in the care of those whom He is sending us - and we are all in this together. Here are my most recent comments, if you missed them:

I’m posting Kelsey Bohlender’s nominations from the comments section, clarifying one or two ground rules, and then setting the deadline.
I’m posting Kelsey’s comments because she connected exactly with the point of my last post - there are many in the IHOP community who are called to partner with Jesus to impact the earth and take ground for the kingdom, not just the…well, read her post. You guys are doing a great job, though, with the “category one” crowd - people that might just be crazy enough to jump in and start writing…with the proper motivation. Here are Kelsey’s thoughts:

Side note - Brent Steeno went on a blogging tear yesterday, with five (five!) posts about the current geo-political situation. Nothing yet about the nutrients found in eagle’s eggs, though. (sigh!)
Kyle Gebhart finally decided to say something and not just talk about saying something - which is good for all of us.
Isaac & Morgan Bennett are having a boy.
Ron Downing is beginning his study of the book of Matthew. Ian Barker is continuing his study on Philippians.
OK, full disclosure. As many of you know, there are blogs of substance sprouting up all over the web from our IHOP family. There is good stuff out there, and one of the joys of entering into this arena for me has been the discovery of all of these hidden jewels of wisdom and revelation that are invading the world wide web. In that spirit, I wanted to intentionally juxtapose this topic with the topic I introduced on Wednesday related to the iphone.
